Business Strategy: You CAN Get Where You Want to Go!

GPS devices are ubiquitous these days. Whether you have an app on your phone or a device that’s built into your car, you’re probably never far from something that tells you how to get where you want to go. Some people love them. Others find them irritating. When you’re headed into territory that’s unfamiliar to you, however, they can really be invaluable. The same is true of business strategy: You CAN get where you want to go.

Transforming Your Business Puts You Into New Territory
If you’re serious about scaling up your company and growing your business, you’re going to be heading into territory that’s uncharted for you. That’s what transforming your business is all about. You know that you can’t keep doing things the same way and expect to reach new business goals. But how do you get where you want to go if you’ve never been down this road before?

Helping clients create a solid and workable business strategy is one of the most important things I do as an executive business coach. I help clients firm up their company’s vision—and then I help them put together a strategic plan that will help them reach their goals. And while creating a strategic plan is hard work, it doesn’t have to be rocket science.

There Is No “One-Size-Fits-All” Strategy
With that being said, let me issue a caveat: There is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” business strategy. A great business coach will spend time with you and your organization and “look under the hood”to understand how your business truly works before helping you create your strategy.

You specific strategy needs to be developed based on your core values, your vision, and your particular brand promise. That means part of the process involves delving into those things to make sure they’re clear and consistent.

There Are Some Simple Tools
Just because the creation of business strategy is a “custom” endeavor, that doesn’t mean there aren’t simple tools that are available to help you. In fact, my single most valuable tool for helping clients is a one-page strategic plan. It’s hard to find something simpler than a one-page plan! Of course, distilling all the information down into a one-page plan isn’t easy, but it doesn’t have to be overly complicated. And yet, I find it’s something that’s lacking in most of the companies with whom I work. It’s a simple and essential part of the process I use to help companies transform themselvesto achieve the growth they’re after.

Do You Have a Strategy That Will Help You Reach Your Goals?
Goals and dreams for your business are great, but if you don’t have a strategy in place you’re not going to achieve what you want. I invite you to click on the orange “Assessment” button below to see if you’re really ready to grow. A GPS system needs to know where you are before it can map out the best route to your destination. The same is true with your business. You need to know where you are before creating a strategy that will get you to your goal.
